Promoting Resilience in Adolescents and Young Adults with Serious Illness

The overarching objective of this project is to optimize the reach and accessibility of a novel evidence-based resilience intervention (“Promoting Resilience in Stress Management,” PRISM) for teens and young adults with serious illness. Briefly, the proposal includes (a) refining a digital "app" component of the intervention; and, (b) conducing a pilot institutional-level dissemination & implementation program to put the intervention into the hands of patients who need it. Ultimately, these related and necessary steps will facilitate the broader distribution of an innovative early pediatric palliative care intervention.

“The Sojourns program would allow me to leverage this critical moment when my academic work has concordance with standardized psychosocial and palliative care integration in pediatric oncology and other pediatric subspecialties. This is the right time to elevate access to palliative care interventions. By developing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating platforms such as PRISM, I hope to establish my presence as a key thought leader so that I can help guide our field. The Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program will allow me to build key leadership skills and collaborations, and ultimately achieve my long-term goals of improving primary pediatric palliative care on the national level.”
