Mark Ruszczyk brings broad and deep health insurance expertise to his position as President of Regence BlueShield of Idaho. In this capacity, Mark is responsible for directing statewide operations and optimizing market performance, while representing and promoting Regence in business and civic arenas throughout the state.
Immediately prior to joining Regence, Mark served as head of marketing and sales with Kaiser Permanente in the mid-Atlantic states. In this role, he was responsible for all commercial, Individual, Medicare and Medicaid lines of business serving over 800K members and managing 5 billion in revenue. Mark was also responsible for strategic market planning, product development, innovation, sales and account management, underwriting, and actuarial. Under Mark’s leadership, Kaiser Permanente doubled membership, revenue and profitability in every line of business and in every market. Mark also assumed responsibility for managing Kaiser Permanente’s 11 vision centers and nearly 600 employees.
Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Mark held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility for 18 years with leading Blues plans. While working at one of the country’s larger Blues companies, he successfully improved employee satisfaction measures and drove timely resolution of key regulatory issues in ten states. At Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Mark, as the Chief Marketing Officer, drove the transformation of 5 merged BCBS plans into one high growth organization serving nearly 2 million members. Early in his career, Mark served more than 2 million Aetna members in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and southeast Indiana.
Throughout his career, Mark has shown himself to be a results-driven and detail-oriented executive with a track record of success in challenging and dynamic environments. He has led direct sales, telemarketing, digital and retention teams, underwriting, and actuarial. He has guided all marketing, sales, and pricing for Individual, Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lines of business.
Mark and his wife Chris have two sons and a daughter. Mark holds a bachelor’s in health care administration from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University.
