Charting a Course to a Person-Centered Heath Record
The main objective of this project is to create a goal-aligned, analyzable electronic health record (EHR) as a tool to improve whole person care. This project will provide the proof of concept that an EHR can drive quality improvement and aid the delivery of person-centered care.
“I have always been fascinated by the intersection of humanistic medicine and informatics. The power to effect large-scale change, inclining health care toward whole person care, relies in part on the future ability to combine these two seemingly disparate fields. To date, insufficient emphasis has been placed on fostering the growth of technology in this way. Indeed, the EHR can actually aid the delivery of person-centered care. This project aims to prove the concept that clinically-informed EHR design and automated person-centered outcome analyses are possible at scale. Over the last few years, I have created a roadmap for achieving this goal. While progress has been made, this award would allow me to further refine this vision, leveraging additional dedicated time and training, and accelerate the contributions I can make to both our field and health care in general.”
