A Community Engaged Approach to Develop a Culturally Appropriate Palliative Care Model for Spanish-speaking Families Impacted by Childhood Cancer
The goals of this project are to: 1. Understand unmet palliative care needs and barriers and facilitators to palliative care use in this population. 2. Develop a culturally adapted and relevant palliative care model to address these needs and barriers. 3. Gather necessary formative evaluation feedback to evaluate usability and feasibility from the target community in order to refine the palliative care model as needed.
“The Sojourns Scholar Program will allow me to further develop as a scholar, educator, and leader in palliative care with a specific focus on pediatrics and marginalized/underserved populations. There is a significant lack of psychologists as leaders in the palliative care field and thus I will have the opportunity to become not just a leader in pediatric palliative care but advance palliative care within my psychology-related networks and organizations.”
