The RFP is part of the Foundation’s Resilient Children and Families program which includes a focus on early intervention, prevention, and mitigation of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). People who experience multiple ACEs are more likely to develop life-threatening conditions such as obesity, heart disease, alcoholism, drug use, smoking and depression as adults. The Foundation partners with non-profit organizations that empower families to prevent and intervene with ACEs. This funding opportunity is part of a larger 10-year vision to advance equity through whole-person health.
“Many communities lack basic behavioral health infrastructure for young children and their caregivers,” said Peggy Maguire, president of Cambia Health Foundation. “We believe that supporting culturally relevant, integrated approaches to pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care and early childhood health is critical to reducing ACEs and creating better outcomes for everyone. We are pleased to announce this new opportunity to organizations in our region to support young children, parents, caregivers and communities.”
The goals of the Resilient Children & Families program are to build resiliency and improve health outcomes for pregnancy, infants, and children up to age 8 pregnant women, creating long-term and sustainable impact on:
- Improving access to whole-person care for pregnant mothers, parents and caregivers that include elements of ACEs awareness, ACEs prevention and early relational health
- Mitigating the effects of existing ACEs by providing screening and effective whole-person interventions for children and families
- Reducing ACEs and intervening to decrease childhood anxiety, depression, and self-injurious behaviors correlating to existing adverse experiences
- Eliminating inequities in maternal health and healthy birth outcomes
